Philco Refrigerator gaskets

I have a 1950's philco refrigerator which needs new gaskets, and i can't find any serial number or model number on the unit. It has one door, with a freezer model on the top witj its separate door. The gasket i need is the main one for the main door. My local repair shop needs the model number to help me. I looked inside the whole unit, and on the back, as well as the inside panels. Any thoughts?

Hi Cynthia

I have a suggestion although this isn't a radio. Maintenance Warehouse sells Universal Refrigerator Door Gasket. It's their part number 206550, for $27.95. Phone number is 800-431-3000. Maintenance Warehouse usually sells to contractors and apartment owners but you shouldn't have a problem

Hi Cynthia,
Norm's suggestion is a good one, and may be your best option. I am surprised to hear that your local repair shop still has cross-reference listings for Philco refrigerators. If you are determined to find that model number, it is there somewhere. I suggest you look for a metal plate (probably aluminum) attached by rivets, possibly inside the freezer compartment or possibly attached to the painted metal frame underneath the compressor and fan motor.

Hello Cynthia,
I too have Philco refrigerator built about 1940 which needs a door gasket. The model number on mine is on the frame at the back below the compressor. Another possible place to locate the proper door gasket is www.antiqueappliances.com. They have a parts page that shows the profile of several different style door gaskets complete with dimensions.
Good Luck!
Charles
