Emerson Ingraham

Hi all,
Im looking for information on another one of the radios I just purchased at an estate sale. The radio is an Emerson. It has a tag on the bottom that says it is an Ingraham cabinet. The radio looks similar an old doctors medical bag with a wood handle on top. It has a roll top front on it built like the old roll top desks. I can not find a model number anywhere on the radio. Any information would be appreciated. And thanks to Norm for the answer to my last question. Thanks all.

Hi,
If there is no number on the paper Ingram tag, (it should be a three digit number), look for an embossed number on the bottom, or on the bottom side of the top. Emerson used the same chassis' for a number of models, but Ingram should have added their own ID mark to the cabinet. There is a chance that it may have been printed on the paper tag with the tube layout- But that may have been done in red ink, which can be a problem to make out.

Hello Jim,
My Emerson "Strad" has the model number stamped on the back of the chassis. THat was the only place I could find it.

Yesterday I bought the same model: roll top, handle,Ingraham cabinet, Model EC-353. The model # is stencilled on the bottom. You can find a schematic in Riders 12-1 or Beitman's 1942-39. There are photos at the Radio Page (www.home.ican.net/~24858/table.htm) (mislabeled EC-853) and at the Radio Attic wwww.archives.radioattic.com/archive_e3.htm). I think the photo at Radioattic is more correct. Mine seems to have an original finish and the trim around the end is brown/wallnut, not black like the oner at Radio Page.
I just recapped mine and it works well. The Bietman's schematic is easier to read but does not include the note in Riders that shows for the "EC" chassis the R11 and C26 are missing and point "X" is connected to ground.

Mine is missing the plastic dial cover. Should I make a mold and form my own in athe oven ot does someome supply these?
