Philco Model 46-480

I have been  lurking around this news group for a while. I have a tendency
to latch on to anything that is old, furniture, record players, radios, etc.
I have had in my possession for the last 15 years a Philco Model 46-480
radio (floor model) which had been my father-in-laws. When I received it one
tube was dead that I have since replaced but to no avail the radio still
wouldn’t work. The radio was my father-in -laws and that it is in showroom
condition (not a mark on it ,so help me God) I would like to get it up and
running, being in a small remote community I have very little access to
technical advice. So if any of you good people have any advice or assistance
as to what may be the problem and how to rectify it please let me know. All
tubes light up but no sound what so ever.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

JACK

Hello Jack

I have a 46-480 that works, it was owned by my grandmother, with the help of a friend we put to work the FM part, the AM, and SW has always been running. The FM runs, but drifts, I have not been able to find a schematic to try to improve the RF performance.

I beleive the FM and AM are different. Maybe you should first check the audio amplifier from the Volume Control.

This radio uses the speaker as a filter for the power supply.
