old resistors

I was wondering? I reallize that the old resistors were much bigger than the new ones I mean diameter and lenght I am wondering what size in watts were generally used back then the radio I have is an 1931 rca model 7 superrette. the resistors size wise look like ten watt resistors I I would like to know if 2watt would be alright to use.
