Radio Speaker Rattle
5/14/2003 2:38:36 PMRalphB
Hi,
My radio speaker rattles. It is a Zenith transoceanic h500. I have tested with headphones and it sounds okay. At low volume it sounds good. When the voulume is incereased it starts to rattle off and on depending upon sound intensity. If the switches are changed for the radiorgan, bass, alto, and so on, it makes very little difference in the rattle. There are no tears. Can I fix the speaker? Suspect worn internal parts?
THX

Hi Ralph

Press on the cone and see if it rubs. If it does sometimes cotton can be placed between the frame & cone, in one area, from the back.

Be sure metal particles haven't been attracted to the speaker magnet.

Has cone edge come lose from the frame? This will cause rattle. Glue will cure this problem.
