TV is dead, need horz output transister number, and the
regulator number.. I don't have any papers on this set. Any other ideas on what else to check..
Thanks Bill

Hi,
The number should be on the H.O.T. The voltage regulator may be okay, unless HOT was a dead short. I would replace that big cap across the HOT too as a safety precaution.

See if the PTC thermistor is intact (usually just touching the disk is enough to reveal a complete failure-the disk will fall away), if the PTC fell apart, replace that first as it alone can keep the set from operating. If the HOT has an integral damper diode, it will not test on a conventional transistor tester or VTVM/DVM.

Otherwise look for obvious failures of power handling resistors, and check the electrolytic caps in the switching power supply for shorted or open caps (many of those will exhibit high rates of leakage).
