I need help with a set of output transistors for this marantz 240 amp the numbers are 461-2010 and 462-4021 I need anything that will work it seems to me that it is almost impossible to know what this transistors are please somebody help me I know that it must be someone that knows something I tried nte219 and nte130 and the 219 transistors short almost inmediatelly come on marantz release this information for us lovers of marantz or I may have to looking into some other brands thanks

Hi,
Did you locate why the originals failed? It sounds like either the electrolytics in the finals may have shorted, or the transistors were in reversed locations.

If all checks out okay, try instead, NTE285MCP- which are two matched complementary transistors NTE284 and NTE285. These have higher voltage ratings than the nte 130/219

Hi,
I suspect more transistors than those you found are bad- they would be finals also. There might be something as simple as a pinched wire, or a transistor lead shorting to the heat sink, or perhaps the replacement transistors needed to have a mica insulator between the heatsink and the transistor case as well as plastic insulators on attaching hardware. Compare it to the side that is working, see if there are insulators under the transistor and the mounting screws. If any other transistors had been worked by anyone, or if you think that anyone else has done work on the amp, check all the transistor in the finals to make sure they have a mica insulator in place if the good side of the amp has them. They might not- but in looking at the schematic, I think they will need that piece of insulating material. I would check any heatsinked transistor in the faulty section of the amp too. I would also check any component attached to the heat sink to see if it may not be shorting to the heat sink.

With that resistor failing as it is, as well as with the failing transistors, there is a short circuit in that final stage. I would even check the speaker connection terminals to see if there might be a wire caught inside that might cause a short. This might take some time with a meter checking to find the short.
