::::I am not sure if this radio is supposed to have a field coil on the speaker or not. Try tracing the wires from the rectifier tube to the first capacitor section, the coil may be mounted on the chassis if not on the speaker, or somebody may have replaced it with a resistor if the speaker failed sometime in the past : hello gordo, when i got this radio all the wires behind speaker socket were removed, the wires from for voice coil l-15- l-16 were removed ,the speaker field l-17 was open and windings corroded . i wired everything but i just cant find were l-18 (speaker field coil res) from electrolitic cap 40mf to r-26 is i suppose ill have to get a resistor and wire it in but im not sure , that item l-18 does not show up in schematic pg 12-12 stromberg 520l. thank for any info
::hello the output transformer is there and i wired new wires to it. is L -18 the winding for speaker field? because that winding was corroded and i have to rewind it thank you for info
::Hi Manuel,
::L-17 is speaker voice coil. L-18 is speaker field coil. Sounds like someone has rewired or attempted to fix a speaker problem. L-18 could be replaced with 10 watt 1000 ohm resistor, speaker with PM speaker. What's status of output transformer. Retrace carefully the circuit. Just what is bad?
Manuel,
Yes, one side of L-18 connects to R-26 and the primary of the output transformer. The other side connects to positive side of C-1, the 40MF cap. Schematic reveals connection. I think you have it.
