Hi,
That voltage is not excessive for some designs. The current is a bigger issue- But, If there are no problems with excessive heating, and the performance is acceptable, everything should be fine. You can double check the plate voltages on the audio output, and those should be within the specs for that radio. If they are low, maybe there was a mismatch as some point, but if it operates acceptable with adequate sensitivity, you should not have a problem.
:I dont know if my detrola 106 speaker is right for this radio chassis I am working on(the speaker plug fits right into the chassis and the speaker works, but I measured the voltage across the field coil and it was 165 volts. Is this too high?
