Emerson tuning eye

My tuning eye worked normally after I changed the filters on my 1940 Emerson (haven't found a model number). The set works great still but the eye won't focus, and stays wide and fuzzy. Nothing I do changes it. Is there a capacitor or resistor I need to check?

Hi

If your eye tube is 6E5, 6U5 or 6G5 there may be a 1 meg resistor built into the socket between pin #2 & #4. Usually a 1 meg. If open there won't be eye movement.

These tubes do not have a focus control. If B+ voltage to the tube isn't filter properly it may seem fuzzy? Be sure pin #3 goes to the AVC line of your radio.

The eye tube is a new 6E5. I tried another older tube and got the same result. I will test for resistors and see what I find...
