First check drive to your Horizontal Output Tube. You will have plate voltage even though there isn't grid drive. The Horizontal Osc. will feed your Output tube. Try replacing both of these tubes before the flyback transformer. Capacitors in these circuits may be bad?
Insulation can look bad and transformer still can be good.

:I'm rebuilding this TV for a friend, and although the windings ohm out at what the Sam's print says, they must be shorted inside the flyback. If you pull the cap lead off the H.V. rect tube (1G3GT), it will not even spark 1/8" to ground. THe Horiz. output tube is outputing +400V PP into the primary of the flyback, but nothing comes out. The tar on the outside of the FBT is cracked and falling off, but the cap lead is still attached. Do you know ANY source for used or rebuilt FBT's in the US or Canada? Can I ring the FBT with a Dick smith or other FBT tester? Please help! Thank you for your time!
