General Television/Hazeltine Radio
3/5/2003 1:41:50 PMRandall Bashta
I bought off of someone a circa early 40s radio which
says "General Television" on the front but on the chassis it only says "manufactored by Hazeltine" and
and the only model number it gives is a serial number,
with the prefix of "CX" followed by some numbers.
This is a two band radio ( MW & SW ), has a wood cabinet and a handle like a lot of the G T radios.
The only thing which throws me is that it has a tube
line up which incluses a 25Z6 rectifier, 25L6 for audio
output and three tubes rated at 6 volts. There is a 6th and empty tube socket, which I thought might be for a ballast or was just not used ( only two wires go to it ). My main question is if anyone can point me to the Rider service info where a schematic might be found? I don't see Hazeltine mentioned and I have looked at most of the General Television and General Television & Radio schematics and I don't see anything close to this radio. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Randall

Hi,
I just serviced a Crosley "Super Sexette", Crosley 648, Which might come close enough to yours.

The missing tube would be the ballast, probably something similar to the 49 volt ballast without the pilot tap.
