What is the best cleaner to use on the volume control on these plastic clad radios?

Hi,
I have had few problems with "LPS 1".

Most of the regular contact cleaners will melt the plastic cases instantly.

The down side of some of those small radios is that the in some cases tthe noise is actually not dirt, but worn out carbon track.

Hi,
Try the LPS first, there is nothing to lose in trying it. On some of the noisy volume controls, replacement is possible, but some just do not have the correct configuration to allow for a new replacement, you would have to locate a donor chassis for a replacement if replacement is the only option.
