5 tube superhet radio kits
2/12/1998 3:58:06 PMWilliam D. Borgen
I'd like to know if there are 5 tube superhet kits
still available for u.s am broadcast reception/ or
books on how to build them. When I was in high school
I built a point to point soldered 5 tube kit(1972)
in an electronics shop class. I've lost the radio
:~( and I'd like to built one again from a kit
or from a construction manual.

Anybody have any suggestions?

E-mail me if you do @: bborgen@wortldnet.att.net
Thanks,
William D. Borgen

If you would settle for a four tube superhet (battery powered) look at Popular Mechanics, June 1948 (P.222-223+226+228) or June 1950 (P. 222-223+226+228)

The Radio Amateur's Handbook, pub. yearly by the American Radio Relay League, featured many construction instructions for tube-type receivers. You can find old handbooks for sale at any hamfest. Go to the ARRL website (www.arrl.com) for a hamfest calendar. Hamfests (radio amateur flemarkets) are also a good place, if not the ONLY place, to find the parts you'll need.

To whom it may concern.

Might it be possible to obtain some information about different types of Superhet receivers. And if it is possible to have also a comparison between AM and FM receivers and a short story of their evolution.

Thanks
