Wilcox-Gay test pressings

Hello, Just discovered some Wilcox-Gay test pressings (Wilcox-Gay Recordio Disc) and was wondering the interest/value to anyone. Have several on different labels, from '41 to '55. Some on the Presto label. Any info out there?

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your query, but instead one of my own!
For more than 50 years I have had in my possession a recording made when my Dad and I
arrived in Vancouver. We had stopped in a small recording studio and cut a disc with a few
inconsequential remarks on it. I was 9. I've just come across the disc (it's one-sided, about 6
inches wide) again and, just for the heck of it, entered "Wilcox-Gay" into a browser. I was
flabbergasted to see a flock of entries.

Now I'm thinking it might be possible for me to actually have the disc fixed so I can hear it!
It's highly unlikely because there are hundreds of little cracks all over the surface, but I
thought I'd give it a try, anyway.

Can you advise me? Do you know of anyone who does this kind of thing?

The disc is marked Wilcox-Gay Corporation, Charlotte, Mich., and the words "Slow
Burning" are visible. Around the centre are the words "Recordio Disc." The date Dec. 9/47 is
written on it in pencil, in what appears to be my hand, but my recollection is my Dad and I
recorded it in December of 1944.

Anyway, if you could advise me I'd be tremendously grateful.

Chuck Davis

Hi, I'm actually trying to track down a photo of what the recording device looked like for these recordio discs. I'm specifically looking for the recording booths where relatives & friends recorded messages to be sent to the soldiers overseas during WWII. Apparently they would have been set up in grocery stores, drug stores, etc like todays photo booths. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there....

I'd like to find any photo(s) of the recording booth for the recordio discs. Specifically, the recording booths of WWII, relatives & friends would record messages and they would be sent overseas to the soldiers. If you could offer any help, I'd appreciate it.
