GE 202

The radio is cool. Replaced all the caps. Works fine, sometimes. At times it is dead, a little static but no signal. What? Why?

Also, having to share an antenae from an identicle 202 to keep it working. Have a bad antenae that I need to replace. Anyone have an antenae for a GE 202 that would like to send to me? Thanks. Pat..

Hi Pat,
The model 200 uses an identical antenna. (I own both models.)
So if you happen to run across a 200, you can use the same antenna.

As for the problem, does it only pick up stations on part of the dial?
The capacitor plates may be touching if that's the case. Or, I would check
the speaker wires. Are they soldered well inside the connecting pins? Have you tested
the tubes?

My 202 works better than my 200. The 200 works part of the time, then fades
out. The cabinet has been repaired. Perhaps you would be interested in buying
my 200 for spare parts? E-mail me and let me know if you're interested.

Hello Mark,

Could use the antenae from the 200 that you want to get rid of. Maybe even the variable cap. Yes, one of the 202's that I have has better reception on the higher end of the dial. The other works great then 'snap' is reduced to a lower out-put. Sometimes even squals-down. I can knock it at that time to resume reception.

Would consider the entire set. How much? Will try the speaker connections. Cold solder joints do cause some interesting troubles.

Thanks for your interest

Pat

This is the only match I could find for GE model 202
radio. I have one and was wondering if anybody knew
where to get technical information as well as general
information. For example, what year(s) did it come out? It still works, but barely. There are 3 wires
that look like they're supposed to attach to the board
on the back of the radio but they're not attached now.
If I hold one of the wires in just the right spot (must
be the antenna), reception and sound is good. I'd like
to know where these wires are supposed to be attached.
Is there a place on GE website where information about
this radio can be obtained? Thanks in advance for
anybody's help.
