gilfillan 3 band radio 58X ?
12/30/2002 10:35:54 PMdick west
In an attic inventory of my uncle and aunt's home, I came across an old radio. I would like to find some information about it.
It's a Gilfillan model. It appears to have 3 bands selection (middle knob of 3 on front). On the back the chassis is punched 58X-xxxxx. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Dick

Gilfillan was located in Los Angeles, 58 series radios were made in 1948. You can find additional information here on nostalgiaair.

Thanks Norm,
I see a 58W and 58S schematic there. I now guess this isn't a 58X (the number stamped on back of chassis). This thing appears much older than that. It has transformer for supply voltages, wooden cabinet, and the station dial appears much older. One of the tubes, (I didn't write the numbers) has a top cap connection on it. They are all octal I believe. it also had wires hanging out for external antennas.
Thanks again.

Hi Dick

If you list tubes here and antiqueradios.com it may help identify your radio. Mallory and others cross references tubes to model numbers.
