speaker alignment

Hello, I am wondering if there is a right or better way to align a speaker voice coil in these old radio speakers than just hit and miss. This radio has had case damage to it with some minor speaker damage also. I am trying to get the speaker to sound clear with no crackling or rubbing of the voice coil. The speaker has a field coil and a voice coil or coil on the cone of it too. How do you tell when it is the speaker or the radio causing bad sound?

Hi Sean

If it's an older speaker there may be a screw in the center allowing the cone to be centered?

For newer speakers push out lightly on the back of the cone. Do this in different places until the sound is ok. Put a piece of cotton between cone and frame where pushing it helped.
