Crosley F-25
11/25/2002 10:10:36 PMLeon Vose
I have a Crosley F-25 that blew a cap but I don't know what the value of that cap is. I am looking for a set of schematics for this if anyone has a set. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Leon

Here is a 25. See if this matches?

:Norm,
Thanks for the schematic but unfortunately it's not the right one. This f-25 is a 5 tube model, in the shape of a cube, has the speaker mounted on the bottom facing the bottom and also has a clock in it. It is AM only without pushbuttons. I have seen pictures of it on the net but that is all.
Thanks.

Maybe we can figure it out without the schematic? Where is the cap connected?

Radios often have a cap across the AC line. They blow. The original is sometimes .05 mfd @ 400 volts. Use .01 mfd @ 600 volts if it's blown. Exact value isn't critical.

Electrolytic filter caps can also blow. If your radio is AC/DC, tubes with filaments wired in series, replace filters with 33 mfd @ 160 volt caps. Similar values would have been used in a radio with tubes like 35Z5, 35W4, 50L6, 35L6, 50B5, 50C5.

:Norm, I found a copy of the schematic at the local library here. The cap was a 0.47 at 400V. You called it right on.
Thanks for you help.
