Old Sparton Radio

Hi I found an old Sparton radio in the garbage and took it because I thought it was really beautiful and I could maybe refinish it. But I dont know anything about it really can you guys help. It is a floor model with spearkers on the side a radio/record player it has 4 knobs on the front one says off/tone, volume, tuning, and the last has ph/bc/sw1/sw2 (I'm not sure what all this stands for!

Your radio is a 1949-50 model. Last knob would be phono/broadcast(am)/shortwave band 1/shortwave band 2.
