Speaker sensitivity - AK Model E vs RCA 100A
10/31/2002 6:06:42 PMTim
I have an AK Model E speaker which plays VERY softly cmpared to my RCA 100A speaker from same period. When compared, the speakers were being driven by a 171A output tube.

Any thoughts on whether the AK is just naturally softer, or whether it has a problem? Any idea what might need fixing or adjusting?

The AK is a beautiful speaker, but not very useful due to it's low volume.

Thanks!

Hi Tim

AK Model E should have sound similar to RCA 100A in volume. The center reed which connects to your AK E cone is in the middle of a magnetic field. It needs to be centered not stuck to one side. You may find it rusted or off center. Adjust and clean if off center..
