If the finish has sags, brush marks, or crud in the detail engraved or machined into the wood that got covered with finish, you are looking at a radio that has been redone.
As long as it was not coated with eurethane, it can be a fairly easy fix as long as the coloring looks right compared to an original 80.
Considering the prices these days on cathederals, it really is not a bad price, even if it had been refinished by someone patient enough to do it right. If it was not doen right, it falls into the gray area.
:The philco 80 I bought and "tuned up"........I paid $90 for it..I think its worth much more. I know AES sells my globe 42 tube used for $56. I can't tell if it has been refinished or not. Its all one color..a dark brown.
