At a hamfest many years ago, a gent was selling solid state replacements for 01 tubes. They were disks that slipped on the pins of the defective tube. Does any one know if these are commercially available, or alternately does someone have a schematic of a similar device?

The wafers are available by calling PTI @ 501-568-1995. They sell the wafers for $10.00 or $7.50 if you buy 3 or more.

UX201A tubes are available at swap meets and by ebay auctions. You should be able to buy the tubes on auction for around $12.00. Antique Electronic Supply sells the UX201A for $13.50. I would prefer using an original tube rather than wafer.
