Depending upon the circuit, you may need to add a power resistor to reduce the higher voltage.
:I have a bad (I think) 100 ma SR and would like to replace with a solid state diode..anyone know the best diode(s) to use?
You might consider 1N4004 through 1N4007. All are rated to 1 amp. Although 1N4003 might work it's only rated to 200 PIV. AC line peaks exceed that.
These diodes are assigned numbers by sorting. Diodes that pass 1000 PIV are numbered 1N4007. 800 is 1N4006, 600 is 1N4005, 400 is 1N4004, 200 is 1N4003, 100 is 1N4002, 50 is 1N4001.
Few diodes only test to the lower voltages so many marked with lower ratings will pass higher voltages. These is little difference in cost of these ratings.

:Hi,
:I generally use 1N4003 as a replacement. Digikey carries them inexpensively.
