Bendix opinion needed

I have a Bendix 526 wooden drop leaf table model with the dial that illuminates through the wood grain when turned on. It appears to me to be in immaculate original working condition. There is an original manufacturers label inside dated January 31, 1946. I paid $5.00 for it at the local church thrift shop. Can anybody tell me more about it and an estimated value?

Hi Marian, as far as value I can only say that I've looked at these on evil-Bay and they go for $40-$75. Usually with local pickup. Radio prices of course vary a lot by region, sales venue and condition of the piecee, but you got a good deal if yours is in good shape. Often the paint peels off the tuning dial.

Are you planning to restore it to working condition? I've always wanted one of these, since my dad worked for Bendix and they did not make a lot of models. I think this is one of their coolest, esp. with the invisible station dial.
