Cleaner for switches and sockets

What is recommended (that you can still get!!) for cleaning switches, sockets, etc., in a tube tester? Hickok 605A in good condition except that it has dust all over the circuitry that, when humidity is high, causes false "shorts" etc. Thanks

Hi,
For a general purpose lubricant/cleaner I use LPS 1. As for a spray cleaner like the old tuner cleaners, Home Depot sometimes carries some "Electric Contact Cleaner", as do a number of auto part stores, and check the cautionary labels to find which ones are not flamable, and if they contain a Chlorinated compound (some are safe for plastics, others are not, and some are water base, which are nasty in their own right). They still do make a limited amount of the Tricloroethelene (most of the criticisms of Chlorine, CFC's, etc, are overblown), but if youare a comercial establishment, you face other regulations that rather limit what you can use.

Perhaps the best source online for sheer number of options is going to be www.digikey.com and see what they have listed online.

Roland, last year I went to Deoxit. There may be better cleaners, but I found it to be a giant leap ahead of most of the general purpose "tuner cleaner" products available to me, and I could get it over the counter locally.
