Philco model 54 code 121
9/21/2002 11:24:30 AMBill
I have a Philco model 54 wooden cased radio that I would like to learn more about. In addition, it does not work but also would like to find out how to repair it. It appears to be in good condition otherwise. P.S. all the tubes seem to work but all I hear is a loud hum. Is it worth the trouble to fix the radio or keep my wife away from estate sales.
Bill
P.S to her credit she has found many nice things over the years.

Hi Bill

You may want to start with information available here on nostalgiaair:

Hum is usually caused by defective electrolytic filter caps. They are low cost and easy to replace.

Philco Model 54 was made in 1933/1934.
