Just recapped philco 40-130...

After recapping and testing the tubes (they are good), I powered up the radio and only get a low hum from the speaker. The radio didn't work previously. I have the original antenna from the back of the radio hooked up. The volume does adjust the speaker hum. What can I test to see if the radio is picking up any stations? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Bobby

The audio section of your radio is working if hum varies with volume control. (Tubes 7C6 & 7B5.)

Check voltages on plate & screen of 7C7, 7A8 and 7B7. Pin #4 of your 7A8 should be a few volts negative if the oscillator is operating. If it's not negative check continuity of coil #17 in the schematic. Oscillator coils sometime open in Philco radios.
