I am working on a Philco model 38 that differs from the
"Riders" schematic. Mine uses a 1A6 (or 1C6) pentagrid
converter unlike the #15 tetrode in "Riders". Installation
looks original. Does anyone have the correct schematic?
Has anyone worked on/owned such a 38 configuration? It
looks somewhat like the Phiclo 39 circuit, but 38 antenna
and oscillator coils are simpler. Would like to communicate
with anyone who has worked on one. Have not fired mine up yet.
Thanks

The schematic for the Code 123 version of the Philco 38 is published in the Philco service book and in their service bulletins. Further, there were some bulletins calling for revisions beyond that in the code 123 version to make the set more stable, and to quiet down the front end. This revised the volume control connections and added a bypass capacitor. Schematic and full data is available from Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club's library service. Contact Barry Zimmerman at barryradio@aol.com, or I can scan in my schematic and e-mail it to you, or fax it if you have a fax.
