GE H-51 using an RCA 82 radio chassis
8/12/2002 10:17:05 PMAl Franceschino
Hello folks. I am working on an RCA model 82 actually GE H-51 using an RCA chassis and I apparently have found at least 4 components that are bad. unfortunately they are all inductors in the detector circuit. I have an open primary on the interstage transformer that feeds the 5 pin terminal block, an open series audio and rf choke. Looks like the whole blasted series circuit feeding the detector got zapped! Any ideas where I can get these part or how I might make appropriate substitues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Al

Hi Al

The RF choke in the schematic is marked 80 ohms. There are 1 & 2.5 mh chokes available for replacement. For test you can jump across this choke.

If your audio interstage transformer is open AES, tubesandmore.com and Play Things Of Past, oldradioparts.com have replacements. Use Stancor A-53C or similar.

If only the primary is open put a 22K resistor across it. Connect a .1 mfd cap from RF choke to either #45 tube grid. The secondary of your transformer will give inverson to your other 45 grid. This will work until you get a replacement.

Don't think these windings got zapped. It's usually corrosion. You might find a green spot on the coil?
