US R & T Apex Model 712
7/2/2002 10:00:46 AMEd Richley
Hi:

I just picked up one of these floor model 712's yesterday
and I'm looking for schematics, etc. Also, I'd really like to know how old it is. I've seaerched the web
for this model, and so far all I can find is the
schematic for the SW converter (found on this site!).

Thanks in advance....

Hi Ed

Information on your radio can be found here on nostalgiaair.

Model 712 is a short wave converter often used with Model 12. See if that matches your radio? Model 12 schematic is dated 1932.

Norm:

Thanks you very, very much! I didn't realize that
it would be a Model 12 (I actually don't know anything
about makes/models.....just how they work!). But,
the model 12 schematic/layout looks like the one
(I'll double check tonight).

The notes on the SW converter schematic refer to a
No. 7 chassis for the broadcast receiver, so I need to
check that out, too.

Thanks also for the date of manufacture info.

Ed

Looks like my AM receiver chassis is very much like
a Model 7. Don't know if it's a 7A, 7B, or whatever...

Now I have to tear it all apart and start refinishing
the cabinet. The veneer is de-laminating and will
need some repair, but it's all there, except for one knob.

This should be really a lot of fun. Thanks again
for your help.

Ed
