Need help for Trav-ler radio-clock #5170

Hi, This radio does not work. Big hum at all volume. But clock and alarm work great. I need infos or schematic to help me troubleshoot. Thanks!

Hi,
Usually just replacing the filter caps will remedy this, but you may have an out put cap (.01-.1mfd or 4-30mfd depending on the design) off of the plate of the output tube that should be replaced (if there is residual hum), and the paper cap across the power line at the switch. After that, peak your IF's, set your Oscillator on the tuning cap so your stations at the upper end of the dial read correctly, and then peak the antenna trimmer (the other adjustable cap on the tuning condensor).

Hi J-F

Schematic from Rider Vol #23 for your radio has been sent. Replace capacitor C9 & C10, 50/50 @ 150 volts. Both will be in one unit. You can replace these with 2 - 47 mfd @ 160 volt modern caps. Be sure to disconnect the original part.
