FADA RW - electrodynamic speaker

Hi All

I hope you can help - I am looking for information regarding a electordynamic speaker for a FADA RW (133, 134, 135, 78-1, 79-10, 97-1).

I have found another number which reads RW 3083 (serial number?).

The radio is (half console - external speaker type?)known as a "Flash-o-graph" [as having a 4 contact flash-o-graph Tube type N4].

My problem is that I do not have information of the transformer or speaker - as I have to find a replacement/subsitute.

Is this a hard job to do?

I have six wires, color coded, that must lead to this transformer/speaker?

Your help is much appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you all and yes this is my 2nd restoration project - so I am green as they come!

All the best

JP

Hi JP

The output transformer should be 10,000 ohm impedance plate to plate @ 20 watts. Exact transformer rating isn't critical.

The winding between B+ and output transformer center tap isn't critical either. Use a 5-10 henry choke rated 100 ma or more. You may want to add a wire wound resistor in series if voltage is above tube ratings.

Final winding sets up bias on your 85 tube & Flash-O-Graph . Use a 5-10 henry choke @ 100 ma or greater. A wire wound resistor may be added in series. Notice the 500,000 & 50,000 ohm resistor at the bottom of your schematic. Changing these resistors adjusts bias on your 85 tube.

After all that, do you have a good Flash-O-Graph? Don't think I've seen one that wasn't black.

Thanks Norm for the infor -
are the specfics of the speaker and transformer similar to other radios of that period? ie. a Philco console speaker - this has a transform on the back of it...

I told you I was green!

And unfortunately my N-4 flash-o-graph tube is black too.

All the best JP
