Hi,
According to one of substitution books, they list a "14G3" Both are a 4 pin tube from their info.

Hi Michael, Is there any particular reason you're looking for a substitute? New 12Z3 tubes are readily available, ETC at http://members.aol.com/etetubes/ has them for $2.00 each and AES www,tubesandmore.com list them for $3.10 (I think they have a minimum order value at AES), plus postage.

Hi Michael

Use a 1V if your radio has series wired filaments. It's not rated as high in current but will work until you get a 12Z3.

Use can use a 1N4007 silicon diode. Banded end on a diode is cathode. With series wired filaments a 40 ohm 5 watt resistor is required between the two large pins.

Thank you guys... I asked because I don't have this tube on hand at the moment but I wanted to test the radio out..

I'll see if I have those tubes and diode around.
