Sleeper Monotrol

It's a new one on me: slant-faced wooden 4 tube battery set. Anyone ever heard of a Sleeper Monotrol? Its value? Didn't find it in any guides I have. Nifty looking device, and I wouldn't mind having it to play with. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jim

See if this matches? If so it's a 1920's radio.

Norm,
Good to hear from you again. Thanks for pointing me to the schematic. I guess maybe it's the Rx-1, although I didn't get a very good look at the front panel (darkness and dirt). I'll need to take a rag and a flashlight with me next time to stand any chance of gleaning details. No price was on it, so I guess they'll make it up. One control and the tubes are missing. Looks like a small wooden slant top desk, but on the inside there is actually some metal sheilding around the components other than the tube sockets. Any idea what this radio should go for? -jim

I wouldn't go over $50, less since parts are missing and condition isn't very good. You will still need 201A tubes. These can go for $12 each or more.

Norm,
Yes, figuring in the tubes, it could get to be an expensive curiosity. I travel in my work, and the next time I cycle past this particular antique store/tourist hangout, I'll see what transpires. I did get a deal there several years ago on a mint WW2 Signal Corps key, so maybe lightning will strike twice. I'll let you know, and thanks again for your help.
Jim
