Restoring silver foil on Arvin Hopalong Model
6/16/1999 9:40:55 PMScott Rhode
Hello all,

I've posted this message on another forum, looking
for someone who may have done this.

Has anyone restored missing silver foil on these
Arvin 441 Hopalong Cassidy models? On this radio,
Topper is missing about a half inch of foil on his tail.

My restoration experience is limited to wood finishes,
veneer replacement and shining up bakelite. Any
suggestions would be appreciated, even if it is to
leave well enough alone.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott, You might try a piece of silver leaf or whatever metal is the best match ( brass , etc.) . This type of thing is available from Constantines I think. I have seen types of leaf (other than gold leaf ) available from catalogs, such as Constantine's. You should be able to antique it (oxidize it ) a little if need be.
Regarding veneer replacement - is this hard to do ? I have a crosley console that needs a few spots fixed.
