6/3/1999 12:20:38 PMRaymond Kinchen
I have a PYE A.C. mains table model type 39H.C.
I need some info on this thing like how to use it.I bought it for 1dollar from a buddy. It turns on and I hear noise but I'm not sure as where to put an antenna. This thing covers 8 bands.I never had a tube radio so I'm lost but I do know about radio's and stuff so please help. Is this thing worth anything?????It is in fair condition, the wood cab needs finishing. Is it worth anything more than a buck?

Hi Raymond,
I believe norm Leal is sending you some information on a Pye with a similar number. If it isn't the same as yours let me know and I'll try and find something. I don't think there would be many Pyes in the US, they're an English make though they were exported to and made in a number of different countries. I think you should get your dollars worth. I'm in Australia and Pye was a prominent brand here but I can't find a similar number. I can check some English vintage radio magazines to see if there's any thing and if you can list the tube types and any other details such as cabinet, bands etc. I might find something similar. Good luck, Don.

Check the London Vintage Radio Club, and post a request for a schematic or technical info for
your model. (London Ontario Canada) Pye was a fairly extensive organization. Radios were manufactured in UK, Australia and in Ajax Ontario Canada.
Pye was active in other lines of research including microwave, radar, television to name a few.
As it happens, the subject of the June LVRC meeting was Pye, and several former employees of Pye were on hand
to tell us about the history of the firm. LVRC may be reached at:
