: I recently bought a Philco 42-335 radio, works great and would like to keep it But I suspect that the plastic cover that holds the glass with the station numbers is not original. The cover seems to be a little short (horizontally) when you place it in the hole in the wooden cabinet. Is there a book out there, that I might see a pix of this model and what it looked like. Any suggestions on where I can get a photo of this set. Also could there be a possibility that the plastic material that this cover was made shrank with age and heat of the radio working all these years or is this just wishful thinking??
Hi John
I don't have a picture of your model Philco but the front plastic around the glass is most likely original. They shrink over time. There are reproductions being made which are very good. They even have the marbleized look of the original. Usually they sell for $29.95. One company selling Philco reproductions is Old Time Replications @ 818 786-2500. Check the internet for others.
