Re: Belmont Radio Model 553....It is a tabletop model and belonged to my father. I was told by a radio shop in San Antonio that it needed a power transformer but they could not locate one. They gave me the name and model. Can anyone help. Please email me so I will know when to look for an answer. Many thanx.

Gentlemen...I never expected such a quick response and from so many folks willing to share their knowledge.
As I try to assimilate the information I have received, I will just say thank you to Don Black, Norman Leal, David Pearell, and Scotty Stambaugh. If I can find time to spend on this project, I will keep all of you informed......again, many thanks to all of you.
