RCA CTC-11 CHASSIS NO VERTICAL DEFLECTION

Replaced vertical output tube 6EM7 and burned cap in the grid circuit of that tube--still no vertical deflection. Now I'm stuck. What's next----I'm new at this old set restoring stuff.

Hi Richard

Measure voltage on the tube. Connect a .1 mfd cap between vertical output grid and filament to see if this gives any deflection?

You may want to post your questions at antiqueradios.com under Television Forum. Others have worked on these early color TV's.

If the plate is at supply potental then the tube isn't conducting. Make sure that the cathode filter isn't open there might be a resistor in parallel too.

If there isn't any source on the plate then you might have an open vertical output transformer (I think that chassis used one). Good luck if that's it.

An old trick to see if the output and deflection circuts are working is to take a cap, something like a .001uf 400vdc connected to the AC and tap the grid of the output. If you get a lot of deflection then the problem is the oscillator. If you get a little deflection the problem is in the feedback loop.
