Shortly after I bought it the power transformer burned up, I was able to replace it with a newer power transformer and it worked fine for about a week then the new power transformer burned up as well.
What keeps causing this problem? Do I need to replace all the old original Capacitors?
Filter caps are the usual cause for a power transformer to burn up. These caps may seem to work and short after the radio warms up. Also check that the rectifier isn't gassy, glowing blue.
Be sure the power transformer is heavy enough to meet radio requirements. Feel the transformer after changing it the next time. It shouldn't be too hot to touch.
