DUAL Record player question ?
4/28/2001 10:13:14 PMmax
HI, this might be way off topic but i'm gonna throw it out here cause i'm stumped.

I have an old Dual brand redord player that seems to be in very good condition. But when i turn it on and put the needle down (it's automatic acutally) it goes flying across the record all the way to the center in about a 1 second apparently skipping right across the grooves. Any idea why this migh happen? I pretty sure the thing will work if i can get the needle to stay in the groove. Any possible tips or info would be apprecitated...thanks!

Hi Max, I think you need a new stylus (needle). If you examine it I think you'll find the jewelled tip has been knocked out and it's just skating across the tops of the grooves. I think West Teck Services might be able to supply replacement styli, I don't have their address, perhaps Norm can supply it. Don Black.

Good call Don! I just took a close look at the needle and it appears to be broken clean off. Norm thanks for the phone #. Any idea what i should expect to pay for a new stylus?

Thanks again for your help guys! (i grew up on cassette and cd's...so this all new to me)

With Christmas around the corner, I thought I would
fix up my boyfriends old record player. Unfortunately
I'm having trouble finding the styli for his old
Dual CS 2110 Turntable. Just curious if this guy
Charles Carey at West-Tech had the needle you were
looking for...Thanks a lot -Stacy

I have, and love, a DUAL 505 record player. I bought it second hand 12 years ago and my clever friend set it up for me. I still have all the tools to set it up but i don't know how. Can anyone help me? I am fairly technical so i should be able to do it, in theory! I need to know all this because my stylus has just broken. Can anyone recomend a replacement?
thank you
jules
