schematics? and question...

Hello,

Since I've updated software, I'm now able to take advantage of the Rider's online at NosAir. Unfortunatly, the quality of the pictures (transferred to "Paint", not printed directly from browser) is such that I am unable to read the small print. I am ISO a high quality scan of the schematics for the Philco F-1740 6volt auto radio, so the cap values can be read for replacement. I normally match to the ones in the set but the printing is gone on the originals.

Also, here's a good question that has me and a few others stumped. Working on another late 30's Silvertone AC/DC, AM reception and tuning eye response is fine, on shortwave though, there is a dead spot around 13 to 15mc where the tuning eye closes completely and reception disappears. The set has been recapped and properly aligned. Any suggestions?

Hi Justin

The schematic for the Philco F-1740 has been sent.

When the tuning eye closes like that the IF section of the radio has gone into oscillation. Be sure tubes are shielded. If you are using metal tubes, pin #1 must be grounded. If nothing else stops the problem, slightly detuning an IF Transformer should work.
