Yes, you got a good deal. I am surprised the tuner plates rub unless someone bent them? They should be made of brass in your radio.

Any high impedance speaker will work. You can use an 8 ohm speaker with output transformer. The radio would have used a RCA 100 series speaker. By the time of your radio, horns were already obsolete. RCA series 100 speakers cost a lot less horns.

The 100a speakers go for under $50 even on ebay. At flea markets they go for about $25.
