That should be a nice radio. The schematic is dated June 1940 and can be found here on Nostalgiaair. Click on schematics then Rider by Original Index. From there Sears and your model number.
The hum would be caused by defective electrolytic filter caps. These caps are in the lower right portion of the schematic by the 5Y3 tube. These caps are available at low cost.

: I recently acquired a Silvertone console radio model #R101 (101 614)serial #593393 from my grandmother. I was hoping someone could give me some information about it like an approximate date and any other information. The radio works fine, but it has a loud buzzing noise coming out of it which is not effected by the volume. Does anyone know what that could be and can I fix it. Any inforamtion is greatly appreciated.
