Crosley antique radio

I'm in the process of restoring a Crosley antique floor model AM/SW radio. To date, I've been unable to find any listing or diagram for this model. This is a model J1970353. The seven tube compliment is 6A8, 6P5, 6SF5, 6SK7, 25L6, and two 25Z6. The unit has no power transformer.. tube filaments wired in series, includes a dropping resistor. An 8" electrodynamic speaker is used and functions as a B+ choke. I am at a loss as to the age, value, and technical aspects of this unit. Any advice or info. would certainly be appreciated. Thankyou.

Hi Dennis

The schematic for a Crosley using those tubes has been sent. The model number may be J739 or J7739. I don't find the radio listed but with those tubes it was made around 1940.

: : : Hello Norm,

: : Thanks for sending the Crosley - model J739 and J7739 schematics. Although these diagrams do share some similarities with my model, there are some significant differences worthy of mentioning:
Our model has no phono input and doesn't employ a plugin ballast resistor. Instead, there are two "resistor wires" below the chassis - (50 Ohm and 460 ohm). The 460 ohm device has disintegrated and unraveled - resembling a "slinky". There is also - a shortwave band with a pair of separate shortwave antenna wires. This set has a push button tuning mechanism as well as a conventional dial cord and tuning knob. Linked to this mechanical push button array is an underchassis selector switch - presumably for switching between AM and SW bands. The Am band employes a loop antenna connected via 3 wires. I would like to hear any further thoughts you may have on identifying this set.

Best regards, Dennis.

I am currently restoring a Crosley model 56tv(o) am reciever and when I recieved it it was missing the dial cord. I have been driving myself crazy trying to restring a new cord on this. Is there anything you can do to help me in the way of a dialcord doagram for this model. thank you
