If one wants to replace one of those old style dogbone resistors with something "authentic", what are the options? I assume there are no modern dogbones out there. Do people just keep looking for old, used ones that will work, or is there a sneaky alternative? This question comes from a Philco restoration, and it seems a shame to re-pot the block capacitors, only to use modern resistors to finish the job. Ideas? Thanks.

Hi Jim

No modern dog bone looking resistors. If you do find NOS dog bone resistors values will probably be high. You could use one marked with a lower value? If you need 10K which has gone to 20K maybe 5K will have gone to 10K? Still not the best idea since it could also change in value.

Michael, a million thanks for the dogbone site. This is very interesting stuff. I can't wait to give it a try. Norm,I have a source of some old dogbones, and had pretty much figured to do like you suggested, but just as a last resort. I really like the idea of putting in parts that stand a better chance of keeping the radio going another 70 or more years. Again this site comes through, and I thank you all.
