Crosley Model 157

Hello:

I think I'm in the right place to ask this question. I'm working on my second ever radio... I'm not sure what a specific part in my radio is, that needs to be replaced. But I'll try to describe it.. This might be a resistor, it's red cloth covered and the inside is like a spring with silver tip ends it goes to a pin on the 42 tube and the otherside goes to a ground point. This part is split, mostly broken almost in half...... Anybody have any idea what this part is? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I wish I could explain it better.

Hi Craig

The Crosley 157 has a 220 ohm resistor, #26 in schematic, from pin #5 of 42's to chassis. Even though the covering is burnt off, as long as the coil spring isn't broken, it may be working. If you replace this resistor use one rated 2 watts or more.

Check the address below for schematic.

Hi Norm:

Thank you very much for the help with the resistor.

Could you tell me how you came up with 2 watts? Is it because of the tubes or location?

Thanks again

Craig
