You can try Nolan Lee's website, and at least find the manual and calibration. Dunno about the battery conversion; I ran mine on cells taken from a 9V transistor battery, with some dropping diodes in series. I stopped using it when I bought a Fluke 79, which switches itself off after a certain time, perfect for dummies like me who forget.
