Regal Ultradyne Help Needed
3/19/2002 6:12:42 AMelektratig
A colleague at work, knowing I tinker with tube amps a litte, brought in an old radio labelled Regal Ultradyne from his attic. I know nothing about old radios, but a little surfing suggests it's from c. late '40s. I haven't taken it apart yet, but it looks basically intact, although very dusty and finish gone: one tube missing, power cord very frayed (which means I'm not going to power up anything until I replace it), and I can see what looks like a cardboard cylinder that I assume is a capacitor that may want to be replaced. The tubes are labelled Sylvania, and two I was able to extract have the designations 14B6 and 14A7 scratched into their bases. The missing tube is also an octal positioned at the left rear of the box (right front when looking at the radio from the back).

Does anyone have a schematic or at least helpful hints? At the very least, I'm going to need to identify the missing tube.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Elektratig, There are a number of Regal models but I can't find one called "Ultradyne". CAn you please list all the tube types you can and total number of tubes. Also look for any model number, on either the chassis or cabinet. I'll try and find the schematic.

Don Black.

Don,

I'll look (the radio is in my office) and report back. However, it looks identical to the model pictured at http://pages.prodigy.net/loco_loba/retroradios/NewFiles/regal1.html

Thanks.
